Attempting to clean windows on a second story or a house or building? Working at heights is unsafe, and quite ofter the reward wont equal the effort due to the difficulty of the job.
Using distilled and de-ionised water leaves windows sparkling and streak free, and have a look at how it can be done ...
So the big question is ... "Is it worth getting my solar panels cleaned? Will I recoup the cost spent on having them cleaned?"
There is not any one correct answer for this question, as there are so many factors to calculate to make an accurate assessment here. But we will point out the following :
Ongoing maintenance includes cleaning, for the longevity of your solar system. Everyone know regular washing of a car is important for longevity, and no one would think twice about doing that - and a car is a liability, only ever costs money and depreciates.
University Studies have clearly shown how unwashed panels lose efficiency, and a significant factor is dust. And rain wont wash away your dust for you.
It is dangerous to work on a roof and / or using detergents can damage your solar panels. The only safe option is de-ionised and distilled water.

Hi all ... we recently received this question from a client who we did a window cleaning job for in Hawthorn. "On our cleaning instructions for our solar panels, it specifically said NOT to use any type of detergent. Is that right?"
Short answer = yes. Many brands will state not to used detergents as they can damage expensive solar panels. Their particular brand also required de-ionised water. Well, guess what, we ONLY use de-ionised water.
